ECOC Policy GroupBuilding on the success of Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture in 2008, the UK government has now initiated a national title in the UK to become City of Culture.
The first city holding the title in 2013 will be announced this summer and a shortlist of candidates has been made public last week. The UK cities racing for the title are: Birmingham, Derry, Norwich and Sheffield. To find out more about this initiative, go to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
