We have introduced you to Marseille and Turku. Now it’s time to introduce the third member of our ECoC policy group: Stavanger.

Stavanger held the ECoC title in 2008 and we are working closely with Stavanger City Council and the IRIS institute. IRIS undertook some interesting impact research and evaluation of Stavanger 2008. Read all about their research projects and outcomes by clicking here.

Happy reading!

EC evaluation of European Capitals of Culture

In November 2009, the European Commission has published an evaluation report on the ECoCs in 2007 (namely Sibiu and Luxembourg) and 2008 (Stavanger and Liverpool). Conducted by ECOTEC Research&Consulting, the report

[…] assesses the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of past year’ ECOCs according to the objectives of the Action.

To read more about the ECOTEC report, click your way to the EC website. The results of the report and recommendations have been forwarded to the European Parliament.

The EC will continue to commission work to evaluate ECoCs and aims to share good practice with future cities who will be holding the title. Watch out for the Linz and Vilnius 2009 report this year!

Ruhr.2010 and research
