Impacts of ECoCs – told by organisers and other officials

What was the impact of the event on the city during the year?

This is one of the questions asked to 23 former organisers and current city responsibles of ECoCs who have been interviewed to tell their stories about their cities’ European Capital of Culture title. It is part of a publication prepared by the European Commission to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ECoCs in Brussels.

The publication ‘ European Capital of Culture: the road to success. From 1985 – 2010’ can be downloaded here. You can still register for the 25th anniversary celebrations until 2 March 2010. The event takes place on 23 and 24 March 2010 and you will be able to find all information on here.

Back from Marseille and head down for recommendations

We are all back from the Marseille workshop and are now busy writing up notes and progressing with our recommendations within the ECoC policy group.

We compared the research frameworks of evaluating the impacts 0f ECoCs in Turku 2011, Ruhr 2010, Stavanger 2008 and Liverpool 2008. It is an exciting process to get an idea about the various priorities and research themes in the different ECoCs while discovering similarities across members of our group.
