Final event: ‘What culture does for us: researching and evaluating European Capitals of Culture’, in Brussels – 13 July 2010

On 13 July we welcomed representatives from the European Commission’s Culture Programme Unit and delegates from across Europe participating in the Policy Group’s final event. Group members, including representatives from Liverpool, Stavanger, Turku, Marseille Provence, the Ruhr, Kosice, presented the outcomes of the one year work programme and published the final report: An international framework of good practice in research and delivery of the European Capital of Culture Programme.

The report includes recommendations on a common approach to evaluation and research for European Capitals of Culture. 25th anniversary of European Capitals of Culture: 23 – 24 March 2010 in Brussels

Two days of discussions and showcase of European Capitals of Culture (former, current and future) have ended. One of the key issues discussed concentrated on legacy and research of ECoCs. Beyond Impacts – Lessons and legacies from researching Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture, 12 March 2010 in Liverpool

This conference presented the findings of the 5 year research programme of Impacts 08, assessing the impacts of Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture. Prior to the conference, the research members of the ECoC policy group met for a small workshop meeting on 11 March 2010. Marseille workshop, 05 February 2010

This workshop took place within the series of meetings within the ECoC Policy Group, discussing a research framework for European Capitals of Culture. The outcomes of the Marseille workshop have been integrated into the Policy Group’s final report.  

Liverpool workshop, 23 November 2009

The workshop took place with all project partners in Liverpool. The work concentrated on the area of work to shape the recommendations which will be presented in Brussels in July 2010. You can download the agenda here: Agenda Liverpool, Nov 09.
